Little sweet pea Lilly Rose Fletcher was here Saturday, said Debbie McCool. Everyone got plenty of smiles from her, played with her and enjoyed the visit. Uncle Jason Beavers and grandmother Debbie even got a little more than they bargained for when Lilly Rose spit up on them.
Allison, Cameron and Lilly Fletcher came from Alabama and spent the day with Allison’s parents, Angela and Patrick Dukes.
Debbie said she and Tommy went down to visit, and Aunt Kimberly and Uncle Jason Beavers and Caitlyn also came. P.J. Dukes got to spend a little time with them after coming in from work. Before heading back to Alabama, the Fletchers stopped by Magnolia Steakhouse to visit with Hannah while she was working.
“She is one very happy baby and smiling all the time,” Debbie said.
Diane Dukes also enjoyed getting to visit with her great-granddaughter, Lilly Rose Fletcher, Saturday.
Christian love and sympathy are extended to the family of Duane “Speck” Poynor of Big Creek. Speck passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 13, after a long battle with cancer.
Sadie Harper said her husband, Milton, fell in the den last Wednesday while walking with his therapist. They went to the hospital in Grenada to have him checked out.
“Praise the Lord there were no broken bones,” Sadie said.
Sadie is also having some knee problems and is waiting until she can get another shot.
Sadie’s son, Ed, has a birthday Tuesday, but the family celebrated Saturday. She made his favorite cake, carrot cake, for the occasion.
Diane Dukes reports George P. Cossar State Park will have bingo Wednesday, Sept. 16, for ages 55 and older. The park also has a number of events planned from October through December.
Joanna Pullen and Haven Rose Dukes spent Saturday night with Diane. They made a trip to Five Below in Batesville, where the girls got to do some shopping.
Ajinomoto Foods held its company picnic at Cossar State Park Saturday, Sept. 12. Everyone had a good time with plenty of people, food and fun.
Jacque Chambers said the ladies had a good turnout for their meeting Thursday at Magnolia Smoke House. She reports the food was good, too.
“Happy supposed-to-be-fall to everyone,” Martha Box shared. “But if it’s fall, why the diddly-bob tarnation am I having to keep wearing that polka dot bikini? I mean, 103 degrees in the shade!”
Martha reports no real news at her house, although coffee is served Mondays and Thursdays at 3 p.m. with Linda and Harvey Darby and Kenny Parker.
“If the town’s ears are burning, it could be us,” Martha joked.
Martha reported a great liver lunch at The Corner Store Wednesday, followed by another good lunch at Pap’s in Grenada Friday. She also met up with friends at Spencer’s for a birthday celebration for Shirley Simmons and Gene Redwine, while also remembering Jimmy Jones. She enjoyed seeing Charles and Glenda Shumpert and everyone else there.
Debbie McCool said the family is preparing for a special birthday celebration this weekend for Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum. The party will be held in the church fellowship hall in honor of Alice’s 85th birthday.
Tommy’s other two sisters are coming Friday and will stay through Sunday, and plenty of the McCool family is expected to help Alice celebrate.
Happy birthday to Angela Dukes, who celebrated Sept. 9; Kellie Young Sturdivant, Sept. 16; Joyce Stevens, Sept. 17; and Pat Harbin, Sept. 18. May you all have a great day.
