Art Talk

As most of you know Main Street in Water Valley is a lively street with plenty of options for entertainment. There are restaurants and galleries popping up all over the quaint little street making it a fun place to hang out and see great art.
Located on 403 Main Street is Bozarts Gallery, which is owned by the husband and wife team of Mickey Howley and Annette Trefzer. They opened this popular gallery officially in December 2009.
They operate it with the help of an alliance of 16 artists who have come together to showcase and promote local art.  
The gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays from noon-5pm and by appointment. The current exhibit in the gallery is called Homage to the Collage, and it will be up until March 16. This is a group show that is definitely worth seeing for the diversity of the collage styles represented.
Yalo Studio is just down the street at 303 Main and is the brainchild of Coulter Fussell and Megan Kingery Patton. They are long-time friends and artists who have created a little gallery out of a former barber shop. Walking through the gallery is like walking through a New Orleans shot gun house, with one room leading to another.
In the back is a working studio where you can see works in various states of completion. These two ladies bring in quirky and fun works from unusual and creative artists making this gallery a place to be surprised and amused.             Currently, Thingnamers: The Collected Works of Chris Sullivan and Jake Fussell, is in the gallery and will be up until mid April. Stop by to see the framed hairweave collection of Jake Fussell and the mouthwatering photographs of Po’Boy paintings by Chris Sullivan. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to  5 p.m. Tues.-Sat.
