OXFORD – Davidson Elementary Assistant Principal Brianna J. Foster will have a book signing for her first book, Will You Be A Rebel Baby?, Saturday at Square Books Junior in Oxford at 10 a.m.
Foster reported Mascot Books agreed to publish the children’s book after she pitched the idea to the company. The poetry book features Ole Miss experiences in a question form for Rebel babies.
She has also agreed to publish three additional books for the company – similar books that would feature Mississippi State University, Louisiana State University and Auburn University.
A Batesville native, this is her first year working at DES. She worked as a teacher for 13 years and served as a literary coach for the Mississippi Department of Education before coming to the Water Valley elementary school. Foster’s said her love of reading started at a young age.
“It was an escape for me, as a child I grew up in a very unsettled home,” she added. She also credits key teachers in her life who pushed her to succeed.
“Their drive for me is what got me to where I am today,” she explained.
Now part of her ambition as an educator is to provide similar support for students.
“We still have babies who come from difficult situations and I don’t want them to fall through the cracks.
