Rogers Will Compete In National 4-H  Shooting Shorts Competition In Nebraska

Destyne Rogers, 16-year-old daughter of Sonny and Natasha Rogers, has been getting prepared to represent Mississippi and her home town, Water Valley, at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Competition, scheduled in Grand Island, Neb. from June 25 through July 1.

Destyne qualified among the top four competitors in Mississippi in the small-bore rifle discipline at last year’s Mississippi State Championship. This in itself is no small accomplishment, having to outscore over 60 of her fellow competitors in a tough two-day, head to head competition.

Destyne has also been a competitor in several other shooting events  over the last two years, including events in Anniston, Ala. and  a Junior Olympic Qualifying Match held at the Ole Miss Rifle Team Range in Oxford, in which she earned a silver medal in the small-bore event.

Over the past months Destyne has been preparing for this national event. As can be expected with competition at this level, there are several sacrifices and nothing comes easy. Most of Destyne’s funding and expenses are covered by family donations and fund raisers from local supporters. This national event is no different and she is asking for your support in the form of donations to help offset the cost of lodging and  other travel and equipment expenses.
