Three historic Water Valley churches will open their doors to the community Sunday, Nov. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. for an afternoon of fellowship and history.
The event, called “We Open Our Doors,” will feature First Methodist Church, 603 N. Main St.; First Presbyterian Church, 425 N. Main St.; and the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 609 N. Main St.
Visitors are invited to tour the sanctuaries, learn about each church’s history and meet members of the congregations. The event is free, and visitors may stop by one church or all three.
The initiative is designed to strengthen relationships among Water Valley’s faith communities and encourage future cooperation and outreach.
“The church is an important part of life in Water Valley, and we look forward to getting to know our brothers and sisters in faith better and to opening a path to share our love more fully with the whole community,” said Mary Beth Pulsifer, senior warden of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.
First Methodist is led by Pastor Milt Whatley, while Pastor Curt Presley serves First Presbyterian.
Organizers hope the event will become an ongoing effort involving additional congregations.
