I hope all of you readers had a wonderful Valentines Day, filled with love, flowers and candy!
Love and sympathy to the James Louis Blount family of Grenada. James Louis passed away Friday, Feb. 11 and was laid to rest Monday. I had the pleasure of meeting James Louis back in the late fifties. He married a friend of mine, Shirley Holland of Charleston.
Through the years you lose touch, but I have always thought of him as a funny, sweet and caring person. I always thought their love was a match made in heaven because of the love they showered on each other and their sweet family. Go now and rest in peace my friend.
Doris Hoop recently went to Germantown to see the doctor and got a good report. She got her picc-line out, so no more antibiotics. She says it won’t be long and she will have her right hip replacement.
Martha Box reported she had a great few days – no work except workouts on her joints and soaking up sunshine. She had a great supper Saturday night at the Oakland Fish House, reporting great food and staff. On Sunday she had a wonderful visit at the Hope Church of God. “Wow, what a message from Pastor Joseph Williams. Praises and Glory from all as the SPIRIT filled the room!” said Martha.
Sweet Bobby McClanahan and her sweet brother, Jesse, took care of an old microwave and put the new one in for Martha. Sounds like you did have a great few days, Martha!
Diane Dukes and daughter, Terri Pullen, went to Greenville Saturday and had a birthday party for her sister, Ellen Parker. Ellen will be 78 on the 17th. Those attending were Diane, Terri, Ellen’s daughter, Sheila McNutt; Ellen’s great-grand daughter, Kelsey Weeks, and husband, Bryan, and baby River.
They had a good visit talking about old times and friends. I’m sure Ellen had a good time and what a sweet thing for Diane and Terri to do for her sister’s birthday!
I talked to friend Peggy Bailey by phone this morning and she was still all wound up about the Super Bowl game last night. Peggy’s team lost and she said the whole game was rigged from the beginning and half time was so terrible that she turned her TV off until the game started back. I’m glad I didn’t watch it. I didn’t even turn my TV on in the den. David watched it in the bedroom. He wasn’t sounding too happy a time or two when I peeped in to check on him.
Happy birthday to sweet little Sawyer Grace Bowman, who celebrated her first birthday February 12th. Her parents are Brent and Tori Bowman and she has a big brother, Weston. Sawyer had a big birthday party with her family and friends there to help her celebrate.
Happy belated birthday to Sissy Anderson who celebrated the 13th; to Peggy Bailey, Doris Hoop, PJ Dukes and Ellen Parker on the 17th; Ben Box celebrates the 18th; Mae Ellen Marlow and Joy Tippit share a birthday on the 19th; Morgan Eskridge and Daryl Burney celebrate the 20th; and Johnny Tillman and Bubba Tillman celebrate the 21st. I hope you all have a wonderful birthday.
Happy anniversary to Terry and Sarah Wilbourn on the 13th. I always tell Sarah that I’m going to send her a sympathy card for putting up with Terry. All in fun, Terry! Happy anniversary to Sherry and Roy Anderson on the 17th.
Thought for the day… A sweater is a garment worn by a child when his mother feels chilly.
Recipe for the week:
Impossible Turkey Pie
2-cups cut-up cooked turkey
1- jar ( 4 1/2 ounces)of sliced mushrooms, drained
1/2 cup sliced green onions
1/2 teaspoon salt
1- cup shredded natural Swiss cheese
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup of Bisquick mix
3 eggs
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease pie plate , 10×1-1/2 inches. Sprinkle first five ingredients in pie plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth. Pour into pie plate. Bake until golden brown and knife inserted comes out clean. 30 to 35 minutes.
