WATER VALLEY – The soundtrack of this year’s Watermelon Carnival will be playing loud and proud in City Park on Saturday, with live music stretching from morning well into the afternoon. Whether you’re strolling through booths, sipping a cold lemonade, or just resting in the shade, the stage lineup is worth a listen.
Kicking things off from 9 to 11 a.m. is Tom Foolery, an acoustic trio from North Mississippi and a returning Carnival favorite. With a blend of Americana, blues, and familiar favorites from across the decades, their laid-back style always draws a crowd. Featuring Bob Ray (guitar, mandolin, harmonica), Barney Davis (upright bass), and Mike Dillard (guitar), this seasoned group sets the perfect tone to start your Saturday in the park.
From 11 a.m. to noon, Jacob Kynard steps up to the mic. Originally from Alabama, Jacob made a local splash at the Casey Jones Music Fest. With a smooth voice and heartfelt lyrics, he brings stories of everyday life to the stage—captivating crowds with every chord.
After a lunch break, the music picks back up at 1:30 p.m. with Tanner Mills, a familiar face around Water Valley. Known for his mix of country and classic rock, Tanner’s performances are always a solid blend of energy and heart. He’ll play until 2:30 p.m.
Then comes a special treat: Charlie Mars takes the stage from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Born in Laurel, and now living in the hills of Yalobusha County, Charlie’s musical journey has taken him from small-town bands to global stages—and back again. His songs, steeped in life experience and local soul, blend Americana with a deeply personal touch.
Rounding out the afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m. is Singlewide, an Americana-folk band based out of Oxford. Anchored by brother-and-sister duo Cooper Eddleman (lead guitar, banjo, harmonica, vocals) and Luci Eddleman (rhythm guitar, piano, mandolin, vocals), Singlewide blends the sounds of banjo and guitar with rich sibling harmonies. Cooper and Luci began performing together at a young age and later expanded the group to include Dylan Carlisle on drums and Coop Bell on bass and guitar.
Come early, stay late, and let the music carry you through the day.
