My sweet neighbor, Lila Myrick, was bragging on her husband, Garry, who was selected as Gym Member of the Month for September at the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center in Charleston at Tallahatchie General Hospital. He was presented with a certificate on Friday. He hasn’t missed a day since joining. Congratulations to you, Garry! I can’t imagine me joining a gym class — the class would be over by the time I dressed myself for it!
Martha Box said this week went by so fast she had to get new running shoes!
“Made it through a tuff (to me) week again. Jesus is the reason I can keep on keeping on. He strengthens me at my weakest moments!” Martha said.
She enjoyed lunch at the Corner on Wednesday, then took lunch to Sheryn and visited awhile.
Martha also went to the wedding of Holly and Cameron Cole Saturday evening, and it was a loving, spiritual, beautiful wedding. “So good to spend time with my Box nephews Wayne, Dave, and Boone — and their loves!” she said.
Martha enjoyed a great teaching and preaching message at Willow Springs Assembly of God Sunday morning, with music and songs that lifted her up! Then she met her sister, Joyce Stevens, niece, Angie, and the boys for lunch at the Fish Hut. “Lol, it was a nap, then playtime with my little neighbor Princess, Paisley.
“I’m still working on me. I must get more done!” says Martha.
The Grenada Rockets Rowland team won the Fall Grand Slam Tournament in Flowood. “I’m so proud of them,” said grandmother Faye Hartley.
Tommy and Debbie McCool picked up Alice Kellum in Grenada Saturday afternoon, and they went to Leland. Debbie said she was very nervous about going after what happened there Friday night. “Just a lot of prayers for everyone there and the other towns involved with those horrible shootings.”
Tommy had two of his nieces come visit — his older brother Mac’s girls, Michelle Holemon from Texas and Tracy Thornburg from Arkansas. They came in Wednesday and stayed until Sunday.
His sister Patsy Welch had been fighting diabetes all week. She went to the doctor, and her sugar was too high to register. Thankfully, by Sunday it was down a lot, and she was just feeling a little tired.
Caitlyn and Hannah Beavers and Dallas Boyett all went to the Mississippi Coast Thursday through Sunday for the Cruisin’ the Coast car shows. Dallas’ brother, Denver, and his parents, Daniel and Michelle Boyett, went too. This is a yearly thing for them.
Milton Harper is still having problems getting around, but therapy is helping him. He is finally eating since coming home, but he has lost 15 pounds in a month. Sadie said she is doing okay — getting new glasses soon so she can see better.
David and I visited the great-grands, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr., Sunday afternoon for a little while. Waylon Jr. wasn’t feeling well, so he went to bed. Haven Rose, as usual, was in a talking mood. She gave me a few lectures about turning my phone off and not taking any more pictures of her! What would we do without our precious grandbabies?
Faye Hartley, Karen Chambers, and Teresa Ross celebrate their birthdays on the 16th; Diane Hill Nail celebrates on the 17th; Carl Kendall on the 18th; Lisa McMillan and Tripp Beardain on the 19th; Mike Lancaster on the 20th; and Alicia Pittman on the 22nd. I pray you all have a wonderful time celebrating your special day.
Thought for the Day: You may not even realize it, but you make someone’s day better just by being in it.
