I should have posted this last week about the Tillman family reunion. We had a great, happy crowd, lots of good food, and lots of hugs. We had folks from six months old to 90 years old. How did it feel being the oldest one there, Ann Hudson? I am already looking forward to next year’s reunion.
Madeline Brooke Holliday celebrated her 18th birthday on October 21. Such a sweet milestone for a sweet young lady! Madeline, I have watched you grow from a pretty little girl into a beautiful young lady.
This past Saturday, Braxden Dukes celebrated his 13th birthday by going to The Haunted Slaughter Plant in Pontotoc and The Haunted Hill in Tupelo. I heard from Wendell Carvan Saturday morning. He said he was doing well and still active, even though he’s moving a little slower these days. He turns 90 in January and still lives in the house he and Christiane built in 2000 on his family land.
Faye Hartley said she had a wonderful birthday. “Nathan and Kristie cooked for me,” she said. Those attending were Nathan, Kristie, Rowland, Mary Brett, McLendon, and Mark Hartley, Jessica McGee, Nick Gillespie, Annie, Saylor, and Emily Box.
Tommy and Debbie McCool had lots of fun Saturday night at the church Fall Fest. Debbie said she really enjoyed doing the cake walk. Sunday, they got up early and drove to Demopolis, Alabama, to spend the day with Debbie’s best friend from Greenville, whose daughter passed away last week. The memorial service was Sunday. They were getting ready to head home later in the afternoon.
“I know it was just the other day I was up and running everywhere,” said Martha Box.“I spent some time at the lake enjoying the view as I read! Granddaughters Addie, Rissa, and Lilly came by Saturday. I got some good hugs—then put brooms in their hands and sat down! Lol. Maybe they’ll come back! Power’s out at my place now, so I finally ate a sandwich at the truck stop. About to sit outside my place and finish my book.”
Martha said she had church via Bible, TV, and Facebook on Sunday. “Brother Jesse brought his little great-grand ‘dynamite boy’ to see me Saturday. He and Paisley and Wyatt sure are special loves of mine,” said Martha.
Mike and Rhonda Haley of Houston visited Festus, Ruth Jane, and Amanda Haley Friday afternoon.
Shelia Jackson has been in the hospital in Oxford but is home now and doing better. Shelia was having trouble with her blood pressure being too low.
Mackayla Murphree and Sheila Jackson celebrate their birthdays on October 24. Mike Crawford, Patsie Tillman, and Ella Guest Hubbard celebrate on the 26th. I pray you all have a wonderful day celebrating your special day!
Thought for the Day: The best way to get husbands to do something is to suggest they’re probably too old to do it.
