Chamber Organizes For
Annual Banquet Night

Staff Report

Organizers are busy preparing for the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet, which will be held on April 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church.

The slate of events on the agenda at the banquet include announcing the recipient of the annual Braswell Hatcher Service Award, and introducing new directors and officers for  2007-2008.

Directors are selected each year, with chamber members selecting four from a list of nominees. This year, the new directors are David Burns, Jessie Gurner, Ron Hart, Bill Taylor.

Entertainment for the banquet will be Dan “Doc” Holiday, better known as “The Hilarious Hypnotist.”

Holiday entertains civic groups, corporate parties and charity events. He has traveled for over twenty-five years performing for groups across the United States.

Holiday performs in tuxedo by suggesting situations that groups respond, often with hilarious results. You may suddenly feel like singing opera. Or calling hogs.

Holiday, who has a medical degree, as well as military medical training, performs his act internationally.

“Be sure to reserve this date for a tenderloin dinner and an evening of fun,” said Bonnie Cox, who manages the chamber.

Tickets may be purchased from any Chamber of Commerce director or at the Chamber of Commerce office. The price of tickets is $15.

“We plan to make this year’s banquet one of the best yet,” Cox said.
