Community Pep Rally Could Be Birth Of New Tradition

The WVHS Blue Devil Cheerleaders performed for a huge crowd gathered in Railroad Park.
A large crowd of Blue Devil fans turned out for the first Water Valley Main Street Downtown Pep Rally in Railroad Park Thursday night.
The theme for the Water Valley High School Homecoming this year was “Remember When”.
Glenn Kitchens, Principal at WVHS, welcomed Blue Devil fans to the rally. There were performances by the junior high and high school cheerleaders, the Devil Dolls, and the Water Valley High School Band.
The Homecoming Court and football team were introduced. There was special recognition of the Seniors and Super Devils and also of the Pre-Game Meal Sponsors for the team.
Among the additional activities was a group participation cheer competition lead by the WVHS cheerleaders.
The WV Crown Club was in the park selling homecoming mums. Hamburgers were available from the Water Valley Football Booster Club and Water Valley Main Street gave away free popcorn.
“We’re kicked off Homecoming this year with something new and exciting,” said Kim Jones, chair of the Pep Rally Committee for Water Valley Main Street.
“The Pep Rally was something that everyone – students, families, people from the community – could enjoy and we hope this is the birth of a new tradition.”
