Christy Carlisle Wilbourn and Michael Paul Richard were united in marriage at 6 o’clock in the evening on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at First Christian Church in Water Valley. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Reverend Darrell Mount, uncle of the bride, and Brother David Freeman, minister at First Christian Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Frank Wilbourn of Water Valley. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Scyster Throop, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Otis Wilbourn, all of Water Valley. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Mitchel Richard of Lockport, Louisiana, and the grandson of Rose Mary Callais Richard and the late Leon Michael Richard, Sr., of Cutoff, Louisiana and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ralph Hamburger, Sr. of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Nuptial music was provided by Rachel Bell, organist, Lou Ann Holt, pianist; Suzanne Oakley and Robby Parsons, soloists.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Mori Lee Blu ivory satin strapless gown cascaded with beaded sequins and jewels flowing throughout the gown and chapel train.
She carried a nosegay of fall pastel flowers with handkerchiefs made by her great-grandmothers and carried by her mother at her own wedding.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Ashley Ruth Wilbourn, sister of the bride, from Allston, Massachusetts. Bridesmaids were Caroline Bagley Black from Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Christina Diane Doucet from Mandeville, Louisiana; Jill Hyde Hill from Water Valley; Leanne Scruggs Howell from Memphis, Tennessee; Lauren Martina Hughey from Kansas City, Missouri; Erin Lynette Naylor from Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Kelly Lynn Richard from Austin, Texas. The flower girl was Rae Elizabeth Parsons, cousin of the bride, from Arlington, Virginia. The attendants wore Saison Blanche black strapless dresses of European Matte Satin, and they carried nosegays of fall pastel flowers, matching the bride’s arrangement.
Leon Michael Richard served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Dominic Peter Baudoin from Tucson, Arizona; Christian Joseph Boudreaux from Long Beach, Mississippi; Kori Michael Boudreaux from Lockport, Louisiana, Colby Dale Callahan from Raceland, Louisiana; Jason Paul Cox from Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Michael Elliott Prados from Lockport, Louisiana; and Ryan Jude Rogers from Plantation, Florida.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Downtown Grill in Oxford, Mississippi. The guests were entertained with music by Almost Famous, out of Memphis, TN, while enjoying a full lavish buffet.
On the eve of the wedding, the couple was honored with a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents at Pearl Street Pasta. And on the morning of the wedding, a brunch was given in honor of the bride and her bridesmaids by Carlisle Parsons and India Mount, aunts of the bride at the home of Mrs. Parsons.
After a honeymoon to Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, Mexico, the couple is at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where the bride is an adult and pediatric occupational therapist at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge and the groom is owner of TruGreen ChemLawn of Baton Rouge.
