2007 Crime Statistics From The Water Valley Police Department

    Water Valley Police Chief Mike King released the following crime statistics from 2007 generated by his department:

    1500 – Citations Issued

    600 – Adult Arrests

    85 – Juvenile Referrals/Arrests

1,239 – Offenses Investigated to include:

• 032 – Minor traffic accidents

• 18 – Leaving the scene of an accident

• 103 – Controlled Substance-Sale/Possession/Prescription
and Paraphernalia

•  3 – Robberies

•  51-Burglaries

•  129 – Thefts/Identity/False Pretense/Embezzlement/
Forgery/Utilities/Bad Check

• 129 – Assaults/Aggravated/Rape/Domestic/etc

•  41 – Disorderly Conducts

• 103 – Disturbing the Peace/Noise/Telephone Profanity/
Stalking/Civil Disputes

•  54 – Malicious Mischief/Destroying Property

•  54 – Public Drunks and DUI

•  87 – Beer/Alcohol/Possession/Minor/Public Consumption

•  125 – Driving Under Suspension for failure to appear, pay fines or a DUI

•  41 – Trespassing

•   4 – Suicide/Attempt/Drug Overdose

•  20 – City Ordinance/Junk/Zoning Violations/Curfew/Dog

•  245 – Various other reports and investigations

•  80 – Mississippi Uniform Crash Reports Investigated and submitted to the State. 10,938 – Radio Log entries were made to include:

•  1,982 – Emergency 911 Calls fielded for service county wide.

•  1,791 – Law Enforcement vehicle stops

•  1,048-Security Checks

•   6,117 – Various other calls for service and information.

    The Department also  seized over $10,000.00 in drug forfeiture money and two vehicles largely credited to an aggressive police patrol. These funds will be used for undercover drug investigations, purchase equipment, and help fund the Department DARE program.

 

Crime Statistics From 2007 Released By The Sheriff’s Department

Sheriff William “Lance” Humphreys released the following crime statistics generated by his department during 2007:

• 77 Vehicle Accidents

• 6    Accidents where a driver left the scene

• 65  Controlled Substance- Sale/Possession/Paraphernalia

•  4    Robberies

• 54  Burglaries/attempts

• 43  Thefts/Identity/False Pretense/Embezzlement/Forgery

• 85  Assaults including simple, domestic, aggravated, etc.

• 9    Disorderly Conducts

• 49  Disturbing the Peace/Noise/Telephone Profanity/ Stalking/Civil

• 50  Malicious Mischief, Destroying Property/Vandalism

• 23 DUI/Public Drunk

• 10 Beer/Alcohol/Possession

• 10 Driving Under Suspension

• 27 Trespassing

• 7   Suicide/attempts/overdose

• 16 Animal related cases including attacks, problems or cruelty

• 3   Resisting arrest cases

• 2   Cases of arson

• 54 Burglaries/attempts

•  7  Careless driving offenses

• 4   Death Investigations

• 2   Homicides Including one murder/manslaughter

• 61 Larceny/Petit/Grand

• 3  Kidnapping

• 5  Missing People

• 3   Escapes

• 101 Various other reports and investigations

• 12,117 Radio Log Entries

    The sheriff’s department has also seized over $15,000 in drug forfeitures and three vehicles. The money is placed in a special law enforcement account and used for drug enforcement in the county.
