County Crime Report

Yalobusha County Sheriff Lance Humphreys reported his department is investigating two recent burglaries in recent weeks. One of the burglaries occurred on Hwy. 51 in Tillatoba and the second on County Road 276.

“We believe we have a suspect in one of these cases,” the sheriff stated, however he is still seeking information about the two incidents. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling (662) 473-4935 or 1-(866) 933-TIPS (8477); or by email to TIPS@YalobushaCounty.net.

Other law enforcement activity reported in the county includes a report of a harassing phone call and two reports of assaults.

In an unrelated incident, Humphreys said that he has received information from several Yalobushians about an e-mail scheme in which bogus e-mails have been sent to various people seeking personal information.

Dubbed phishing or spoofing, unsolicited e-mails requesting personal information are on the increase, according to Humphreys.

“Never give anyone your bank account or other information over the phone or internet that you have not contacted about a legitimate business deal,” the sheriff warned.
