Yalobusha County Extension Program Associate Christine Fielder and her husband, Billy Dean, were surprised to learn they had received the Excellence in Agriculture award Thursday night. This was the first time a couple had been selected for this honor. The annual agriculture banquet is coordinated by the Yalobusha Extension Service office members, who were able to keep this selection from their co-worker, Christine Fielder’s until the big night.
Other Yalobushians recognized during the banquet included the late Doke French, who will be added to the Yalobusha Hall of Fame. His daughter, Chryl Goodwin and son, Milliard French accepted the award last Thursday night.
A final award for Committment to Agriculture award went longtime insurance agent John Ashford who told the crowd he was grateful and that he missed traversing the county working as an insurance agent. Coley Little Bailey (left) presented the awards during the ceremony. – Photo by Jack Gurner
