Wildlife Tasting Buffet Will Feature Drew Poppelreiter

COFFEEVILLE – The Yalobusha County Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting the 22nd Annual Wildlife Tasting Buffet this Thursday, March 20. The event will be held at the Multi-Purpose building on Hwy. 7 in Coffeeville.

The doors will open to the public at 6 p.m. and the program will start at 6:30 pm. There will be a $2 admission.

Drew Poppelreiter from Saltillo who appeared on American Idol 7 will provide entertainment. Poppelreiter is described as an “all American farmer” and a great singer, according to organizers.

Sherry Surrette with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science will present a seminar on endangered species during this much-anticipated yearly event.

Organizers say that everyone who loves to cook wildlife is encouraged to enter a dish in the tasting contest. Cash prizes will be awarded including first place, $75; second place, $50 and third place, $25. The wildlife dish judging starts at 6 p.m. No entries will be accepted after 6:30.

In addition to samples of the special wildlife dishes prepared by the guests at this event, organizers will also serve chili and stew.
