Wicker Visits Water Valley

Senator Roger Wicker chats with old friend Eddie Ray, president of Mechanics Bank, during Wednesday’s stop in Water Valley.

Senator Roger Wicker made a brief stop in Water Valley on Wednesday afternoon. The Senator spoke at the Railroad Park Pavilion around 3:30 and said that more cooperation was needed “across the aisle” in Washington.

Wicker told a Herald reporter when asked about Tuesday’s indictments in the Mississippi Beef Processors probe, “The state lost an enormous amount of taxpayer money. I think most people are glad to see that matter is being investigated and some people are being brought to justice.”

Governor Haley Barbour appointed Wicker to the United States Senate on December 31, 2007. Prior to his Senate tenure, Wicker served seven terms in the United States Congress, having been re-elected in 2006 with more than sixty percent of the vote.
