Surf’s Up

The water in Main St. began to drop quickly after the rain stopped about 1:30 Friday afternoon.
Right before noon light to moderate showers began to fall in Water Valley from partly cloudy skies with the sun shining. By 1 p.m. heavy rain began to cause water to rise on city streets.
Main Street between Panola and Blackmur Drive was flooded to almost floorboard level at the edges. Vehicles were creating waves as they passed through the traffic lights.
Some severe thunderstorms are predicted for the remainder of today with a 50% chance this afternoon and a 30% chance this evening. The same is predicted for Saturday, but a dry, hot day is expected Sunday with lower humidity and northwest winds.
