Epes Wins State Award In Competition

JACKSON –  A Water Valley girl has captured state distinction for her photo entry into the 2008 State 4-H Horse Show.

    Her entry won first in the state in its category, which was a non-action digital horse picture, in the junior category.The photo, which was taken of her horse’s eye, was also selected as the “Best Overall Junior 4-H Horse Photograph.” This distinction means her photo was also selected as the best of all first place category winners at the state competition.

    What made her photo unique was it captured her reflection in the horse’s eye.        Tyler’s photograph will hang in display at the Mississippi State University Veterinary School until the 2009 State Show.  

    Tyler was one of 12 Yalobusha 4-Hers who competed in the state’s 29th annual State 4-H Horse Show in mid-July.

    “These kids were eager to learn and they did extremely well for the short time they have been involved,” MSU Extension Service Program Associate Christine Fielder said about Tyler and her sister, Shade Epes.
