Old Sonic Makes Way For New

A pile of rubble and a sign advertising a banana split were all that was left of the old Sonic Drive-In last Friday. The building is being torn down to make way for a new, larger Sonic, according to Frank Hernandez, area supervisor. “We hate to be shut down during Watermelon Carnival,” Hernandez said. The new 1750 square foot restaurant will have 26 stalls and should be open in three to four months. A crew from Womble Concrete handled the demolition. The new Sonic is being built by M & H Builders.
