Parent Input Requested For Uniform Policy

The Water Valley School Board, along with Superintendent Sammy Higdon, will be hosting a public forum concerning school uniforms on Thursday, Sept. 4. The forum will be held in the Water Valley High School cafeteria beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a sing-up sheet available at the school system’s central office next to the high school on Market St. for those who are interested in making public comments.

All comments will be limited to three minutes, Only those signed up by 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, will be allowed to make comments.

 A study is currently underway to determine the feasibility of school uniforms for students and staff in the Water Valley School District.

Parents of students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to go by Water Valley High School or the central office to complete a survey. The last day to complete a survey will be on August 27.

The Water Valley School District Board of Trustees has authorized Superintendent Sammy Higdon to use a parent survey to gather information on the subject of school uniforms.

  The Water Valley School District is asking for parental input regarding school uniforms. Parent surveys have been sent home with students in grades K-8. Parents of students in grades 9-12 will need to go to the Water Valley High School Office, or the Water Valley School District Office, to fill out the survey. ALL SURVEYS MUST BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 27, 2008.

  Community members who do not have children in the Water Valley School District may submit their opinions in writing. All correspondence should be mailed to Water Valley School District, Attention: Sammy Higdon, Superintendent, P. O. Box 788, Water Valley, MS 38965.
