Youngsters Take Stage In Production Of Robinson Crusoe

Even the littlest actors gave it their all at the auditions.

WATER VALLEY – The Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe was Saturday in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) touring production of the popular story featured a cast of local youngsters from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The MCT residency is sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley with support from the Chamber of Commerce and Renasant Bank.

An audition was held Monday in Davidson Elementary School gym for the original adaptation. Among the roles cast were Robinson Crusoe and his sole companion Wilson the goat.

Other parts include Leonard the Leopard, Friday’s Family, and the Oscar Octopus Octet, a family of goats, the Very Hairy Frowny-Face Tribe, and the colorful Chameleons.

Assistant Directors were also cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production. About 60 youngsters took part in the two-hour process. Most of the youngsters at the audition will get to participate in some way, according to the JA sponsors.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 to 8 each day.
