Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Sheriff’s Deputy

Thieves have been targeting Yalobusha churches again, according to Sheriff Lance Humphreys.

Yalobusha County and surrounding counties have been plagued by church burglaries. The latest  incident occurred two weeks ago when Hopewell Church was burglarized and another burglary was attempted in Calhoun County,  which resulted in damage to the building.

Law enforcement needs your help, if you know about these break-ins or have any knowledge about the suspects, please contact your local law enforcement agency or call 1-866-933-TIPS (8477), or e-mail

Crime Stoppers will pay $1,000 dollars for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment of the person or persons who are committing these break-ins.

Last summer church burglaries were a big problem in our county and surrounding counties.  All of the break-ins were similar.

We are asking churches and neighbors around the churches  to please lock your doors, and notify law enforcement of any unusual activities around the churches.

Local and county officers have stepped up patrols in areas where Yalobusha churches are located, and will be patrolling at random times, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

The sheriff has compiled a list of churches in our county, and we are asking each church to please call the Sheriffs department at 473-2722 to make sure your church name and physical address is on our list. We also will need a contact name and phone number in case we need to contact you.
