Coffeeville Home Damaged By Fire

A firefighter removed the meter from the home’s electrical service to cut power and protect his comrades who were inside fighting the fire. The service had been buzzing and sparking.

An early morning fire Saturday severely damaged a home at 3 Wayne Drive in Coffeeville. About a dozen firefighters from Coffeeville and Velma were called to the scene around 1:30 Saturday morning. A pumper from the Coffeeville Fire Department was backed up by a pumper and a tanker from the Velma Fire Department.

A family member said she was awakened by the barking of their dog. She roused other family members and everyone got out of the burning structure.

Firefighters didn’t leave the scene until after 4:30 Saturday morning.
