WATER VALLEY – A special Luminaria Ceremony will be held during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Yalobusha County at the Crawford Sports Complex on April 24, according to Glenda Gordon, event chairman.

“The Luminaria Ceremony is an opportunity to remember those lost to cancer and to honor people who are still battling the disease,” Gordon said.

Luminarias representing people touched by cancer in the community will line the entire track. All members of the community are invited to attend the ceremony and to honor or remember a loved one with a Luminaria.

“It will be beautiful when all the bags with candles are illuminated around the track,” Gordon said. “We hope everyone from the community will come join us for the event.”

Yalobusha’s cancer survivors, anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, will kick off the Relay For Life on Friday, April 24, at 5 p.m. with a survivor??s celebration party and registration sponsored by the Red Hat Melons.
