Herald Will Honor Yalobusha’s Women In Business

Staff Report

The North Mississippi Herald will recognize and honor the entrepreneurial spirit of Yalobusha County’s women in business with a special section slated for this spring.

Along with those who own their own businesses, a number of women are part of the success story for many local companies and organizations.

And, the county’s businesswomen are not only involved in local commerce, but they are also a part of the national trend of grass-roots small-business activity.

There are around 10.4 million women-owned firms in the United States that employ almost 13 million people and generate $1.9 trillion in sales, according to the Center for Women’s Business Research in Washington.

“We have already received a number of nominations and are excited about this new section,” Editor David Howell said.

The businesswomen featured in our 2009 special section will be selected from recommendations by our readers. Please see the ad on page 6 of the current issue of the Herald for a nomination form.
