Main Street Receives State Award

A couple dozen of the many volunteers who worked one of the Saturdays in October on the award winning Better Back Street project. Heading up the work were Mickey Howley (hard to miss in the back), Annette Trefzer, (just to right of Howley), and Ramona Benard (top right).
The award was presented to WVMSA Director Mickey Howley at the annual MMSA luncheon held Thursday, June 25, in Jackson. The goal of the project was to “clean, paint, and polish up Duncan Street’s appearance,” Howley said.
Volunteers ranging from business owners, high school students, church groups and WVMSA members worked four Saturdays in October to complete the makeover of the street which parallels Main on the west.
