Co-chairwomen Zandra Walker and Jonnie Mayo report a big line-up of great talent appearing in the July 30, Watermelon Music Festival. Music by the Sharecroppers will begin at 7 p.m, with the other acts following, beginning at 7:30. The festival will be held in City Auditorium Thursday night, July 30, and is sponsored by Town and Country Garden Club.
Back for the second year is the John Wayne Casserole Gang from New Albany. This dance act was such a hit at the 2008 Watermelon Music Festival that they are returning with more dance steps to entertain you.
All of the boys attend Itawamba Community College in Fulton, where Alex Diaz is a freshman and Kagan Doom and Tony Golding are sophomores. Kagan is the son of Colt and Dee Ann Cox Doom and the grandson of Bobby and Dee Cox of Water Valley.
Appearing for the first time will be Molly Farrar, a singer in the eleventh grade, who is the daughter of Tommy and Denise Wright Farrar. She a granddaughter of Patsy Wright, formerly of Water Valley, now of Senatobia, and the late Gearrell Wright. Her other grandparents are Mary Farrar and the late James Farrar.
