Carnival Art Show Ends Today

The North Mississippi Regional Art Exhibit, held annually in conjunction with the Watermelon Carnival, ends today, Sunday, at Bozarts Gallery on Main Street this year. The hours are 1 to 3 p.m.
Annette Trefzer, owner of Bozarts and coordinator of the exhibit said, “We have lined up more than 20 talented artists who work in a variety of media and styles. Our goal is to offer an impressive array of wonderful work to the public for viewing and purchasing.
The exhibit will include works in a variety of media including stained glass, sculpture, photographs, oils, pencil drawings, watercolors, acrylics, pottery, and wood work. “This is a great opportunity for art lovers and collectors to acquire some unique and interesting pieces,” Trefzer added.
The art show, held over the Watermelon Carnival weekend, has become somewhat of a tradition in Water Valley. Betsy Person started the show three years ago and has sponsored it each year at her business, Remedial Specialists. “Betsy has worked hard to make the show a terrific success and a wonderful asset to the festivities,” Trefzer said.
“I think the show has created a ground swell for the arts in our town by highlighting the work of local artists and by bringing other artists into town. I’m delighted that Water Valley is embracing and appreciating the arts.”
This year the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the exhibition. Members of the newly formed Water Valley Arts Council are also helping with organization and staffing.
Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
