WATER VALLEY – Police arrested Jamie Oneal Martin, 22, of Water Valley as the result of an investigation into a burglary that occurred Sunday at the First Christian Church Parsonage, according to Lt. Rick McCuan.
Mary Freeman, wife of Bro. David Freeman, confronted a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt in the home at 1015 N. Main St. just before 9:30 a.m. The man was attempting to leave by the front door, but was unable to unlock it.
He then pushed Freeman out of the way as he ran out the side door. A Church member followed the man to West Lee Street and was able to direct police to the residence.
Neither Freeman nor a small child she was holding in her arms were seriously injured during the incident.
The home had also been burglarized about three weeks ago and a sum of money taken, according to Bro. Freeman.
Martin is being held at the Grenada County Jail.
