Aldermen Approve Loan Of Lights For Field

WATER VALLEY – The girls’ softball field under construction on Market Street will be well lit thanks to an agreement between Mayor Larry Hart and Oxford Mayor Pat Patterson.

Aldermen approved the agreement last Thursday at a special called meeting.

“Oxford has some surplus ball field lights that they are willing to let us have,” Hart told Aldermen. “The only way we can do it is they have declared them surplus and they can loan them to us.”

“Joe Newman has seen the lights and says they will be very useful for us down here,” Hart added.

According to an inventory sheet from the Oxford Park Commission, there are 28 Hubble lighting fixtures with 1500 watt metal halide lamps and eight lighting arms.

Only Alderman Fred White, who was out of town on business, was absent from the four-minute meeting.

“Fred has a car sale today is why he isn’t with us,” Hart explained.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 2.
