WATER VALLEY – Dr. Bob Hill, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, is recovering from injuries he received after being struck by a Honda three-wheeler around 10 a.m. Friday in the yard of the church at 1300 Eckford Street.
“He is resting at home,” said his wife, Virginia. “There is a break in the tibia bone just about an inch below the knee. He’s got multiple stress fractures further down in the tibia bone and some pulled ligaments in the ankle.
“He is not really seeing a whole lot of visitors because he has to keep his leg elevated and immobile,” she said.
Law enforcement officials immediately began a search for of the driver of the three-wheeler described as a male white wearing a bush-style hat. He was located near the Yalobusha General Hospital just after 1 p.m.
Arrested for aggravated assault in connection with the incident was Kevin Noel Scanlon, 29. The three-wheeler was found in a ditch on Wise Street near the Suggs Street intersection.
Mrs. Hill added that everyone is thankful that Dr. Hill is alive. “It could have been worse for the hit that he got and being thrown threw the air like he did.”
“He’s never had a broken bone before,” she added. “He can’t be on crutches right now. He is having to use a wheelchair and that’s very minimal.
“We’re just thankful to the Lord that He spared his life and we’ll just let the Lord use it for His honor and glory.”
