The accident occurred on County Road 36 near the Enid Lake levee just before noon.
Staff Report
The Yalobusha Sheriff’s Department arrested a Tallahatchie County man Monday afternoon, charging him with manufacture of methamphetamine.
Tommy Franklin was charged at a residence on County Road 3, in the south west portion of the county, after authorities discovered a bag containing multiple ingredients used to make methamphetamine, according to Sheriff Lance Humphreys.
Franklin is currently in the Grenada County jail after being charged by authorities there for possession of precursors.
“This was a joint operation with our department and the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department,” Humphreys said. The initial tip of possible narcotic activity came after the Grenada Police Department monitored Franklin and a second man purchasing precursors at two Grenada businesses.
“They were able to make a traffic stop on I-55,” Humphreys reported.
Franklin was charged with possession of the precursors after the traffic stop, but authorities were able to obtain information that an active lab may be located in Yalobusha County.
“The homeowner granted us consent to search the residence where Franklin was staying,” Humphreys said. The alleged meth lab was discovered during the search.
Franklin is currently being held in the Grenada County jail.
