County’s Top Cooks Will Compete In ‘Catch Of The Day’

ENID LAKE – Do you have a fish recipe that blows the competition out of the water?
Show off you cooking skill by entering the Catch of the Day freshwater fish cooking challenge and tasting buffet.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and Visitor Education Center at Enid. It is jointly sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Mississippi State Extension Service – Yalobusha County, and the Yalobusha County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Prizes will be awarded for dishes featuring catfish, any local freshwater fish, or a species raised by the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery. NMFH fish include walleye, paddlefish, carp, largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, redear, and catfish.
Along with a tasting of the dishes entered, guests will enjoy a catfish dinner of world-renowned Mississippi raised catfish. Entertainment will be provided by “The Dulcimer Sisters” and following the awards presentation, guests can tour the hatchery and visit on-site informational booths from a variety of organizations.
Ticket price is $2.00 in advance or $3.00 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery at Enid Lake, the Yalobusha County Extension Service office in Coffeeville, the Yalobusha Soil and Water Conservation District Office in Coffeeville and the North Mississippi Herald in Water Valley.
