WATER VALLEY – A Water Valley attorney is the latest candidate to qualify to run on the November ballot for circuit court judge.
David Burns will run for District 2 Place 4, a new, unfilled seat in the 17th Circuit Court District.
Burns joins three other candidates in this race including Charleston attorney Jeff Padgett, Robert “Stan” Little of Hernando and Gerald Chatham Sr., also of Hernando.
“I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the newly created position of Circuit Court Judge for District 17. It would truly be an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of this District, and if elected, I promise to do so with fairness and integrity,” Burns told.
Burns has practiced law for more than two decades, graduating from the University of Mississippi Law School with honors in 1990. He has worked in Water Valley since June 1999 and served as city attorney from 2006 to 2009.
Voters from five counties – DeSoto, Tate, Panola, Tallahatchie and Yalobusha – are eligible to cast a ballot in this race. Last Friday, May 7, was the deadline to qualify in this and other judge’s race.
