Talented Kids Join Music Festival Lineup

WATER VALLEY – Four exceptionally talented youngsters will appear at the Water Valley Music Festival, sponsored by the Town and Country Garden Club. The Music Festival will be held in the Civic Auditorium August 5. A pre-program by the Sharecroppers will start at 7 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:30.

  Sam VanWinkle, the youngest son of Brad and Karen VanWinkle, a guitarist, is a fifth-grader at Water Valley Elementary School. He has been playing the guitar since March, when his dad showed him a few chords. With some help from his family, Sam has learned songs from many different artists.

  Abbey and Gracie Swartzendruber were born in Hunan Province of China and adopted as infants by John and Debra Swartzendruber. Abbey is nine years old and Gracie is six. They have been playing the violin since they were two years old. Abbey has played with the Tupelo Symphony, the Starkville Symphony, and the Szuki Symphony Orchestra of the University of Memphis. She has also collaborated on three CD projects.

  Kaitlin Fuller is the 15 year old daughter of Jeremy and Kimi Fuller of Belzoni. She is the granddaughter of Bill and Cindy Hood of Belzoni and Buddy and Sharon Durr of Water Valley A singer, she is a regular performer of the Jerry Clower Festival in Yazoo City.

  Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any Town and Country Garden Club member. They are also available at Turnage Drug Store and the Chamber of Commerce.
