JACKSON – Bob Tyler, Director of the Yalobusha County Economic District, was recently appointed to the Mississippi District Export Council (DEC).
The DEC assists, enhances and promotes the exports of Mississippi goods and services to the world.
Tyler joins almost two dozen Mississippians who serve on the council.
Charles Pittman, Constituent Services/Spe-cial Project Consultant for Governor Haley Barbour, reported the appointment is made with both federal and state input.
“Mississippi and Water Valley have an ace with Bob Tyler,” Pittman added. “Who better to promote Mississippi products than Bob, he has been doing it his entire life.”
Tyler has served as the county’s economic development director since late 2007.
“I am honored by the appointment and appreciate the confidence shown in me by Mississippi officials, the members of our Washington delegation and officials at the U.S. Department of Commerce.”
Tyler believes that the DEC’s goal to assist Mississippi manufacturers export their good is essential to Mississippi businesses in the 21st Century.
“I will do my best to help our manufacturers,” Tyler added. “This additional assignment will offer new opportunities for our state and for Yalobusha County economic development, both in terms of supporting our existing businesses and in terms of recruitment of new job producing industries.
