WATER VALLEY – A pair of shows in February and a costume party fundraiser in March will heat up the local art scene for the cold winter weeks ahead.

Bozarts on Main Street is currently showing new paintings by Aynslee Moon and David Race, and new gourd sculptures and art dolls by Gabriella Delawey.

Gallery owner Annette Trefzer said that the public is invited to a reception and meeting with the artists this Friday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the gallery at 403 N. Main.

The show is on view until March 5.  Gallery hours are noon through 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and by appointment.

On the north side of town, Renasant Bank is hosting a showing of abstract prints by Thomas Lovelady. His work will be on display until the second week of February.

In March the Water Valley Arts Council will hold their “Come As You Aren’t” Costume Party and Dance FUNdraiser in Bozarts. The event will be Saturday night, March 19, from 7:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

“The emphasis is on FUN,” said Ramona Bernard of the council. “Prizes will awarded for most beautiful, most original, and funniest costumes.”

There will be a DJ and the gallery’s famous mirrored ball for dancing in the back room along with snacks and beverages in the front. There will also be a $5 raffle, according to Bernard.
