Two More Join Races

WATER VALLEY – Two new candidates qualified for county offices Monday according to Circuit Clerk Daryl Burney.

    Luther G. Folson, Jr. qualified for sheriff. Folson’s entry into this race marks the third candidate who will run for the county’s top law enforcement position. Folson works as a patrolman with the Water Valley Police Department.

    Incumbent Lance Humphreys and Jamie Caldwell have also qualified to run.         Caldwell is also a patrolman with the Water Valley Police Department and a retired state trooper.

    Attorney Daniel Martin is the second candidate who turned in qualifying papers on Monday. Martin qualified to run for county prosecuting attorney. Water Valley attorney David Burns has also qualified to run for this position. Incumbent J.K. Ward has announced that she will not seek re-election.
