COFFEEVILLE – Aldermen voted to purchase a new police vehicle during their regular January monthly meeting.
The unanimous vote came after an appearance before the board by Coffeeville Police Chief Mark Martin. The chief requested that Aldermen consider purchasing a new vehicle; paying officers for vacation time; hiring a new full-time police officer; paying officers for overtime; offering more competitive pay; and giving cost of living raises yearly.
Among other actions at the Jan. 4 meeting, the Board of Aldermen:
• Tabled action on a new fire truck,
• Paid invoices from Willis Engineering and Robinson & Sons Construction on the water tank project,
• Increased the pay of Coffeeville Town Clerk by $100 per month,
• Paid Claims,
Present were Mayor Mack Burns, Aldermen Michael Ayers, Joe Bourn, George Miller, Bryan McCullough, Michael Ayers, Eva Longstreet, Town Clerk Brenda Gibson, Town Attorney William Maxey and Chief Martin.
