WV Community Band Schedules Spring Concert

  The Water Valley Community Band will present its Spring Concert Sunday, May 1, beginning at 2:30 p.m., in the Civic Auditorium.

  The program will include: “Holy, Holy, Holy” arranged by James Curnow; “Marche Des Parachutistes Belges” by Leemans/arranged by Charles A. Wiley; “Purple Heart Faces of Bravery”, David Shaffer (In honor of the members of Lima Company of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines killed on August 3, 2005 and in particular, Lance Corporal Michael Cifuentes for whom this piece was written.); “Flutopia” by David Shaffer; “Selections from Fiddler on the Roof” arranged by Mike Story; “The Girl I Left Behind Me” from the Irish Suite by Leroy Anderson; “Southern Folk Rhap-sody” arranged by Mike Sweeney; and Disney Razzmatazz” arranged by James Christensen.

  Band members are: flutes, Ernie Caviness, Becky Crow, Debby Hughes, and Angie Wells; oboe, Judy  Sartain; basson, Susan Hart; clarinets, Vivian Gilley, Marty Gurner, Vaughn Hart, Ashley Isaacs, Marsha Morgan, and Kim Shaw; bass clarinet, Janice Crow; alto saxophones, Carol Shields and Harold Turner; french horns, David Baumbaugh, Sandra Evans, Gail Herrera, Julie  Shaw, and Butch Stevens; trumpets, Barron Caulfield, John Cockrell, Janice Dollahite, Kelley Hart, and  Bill Shaw; baritone, Jack Hughes; trombones, James Caviness, Gary Gold, and Ron Hart; tuba, Brandon Hughes; percussion, Clay Ashford, Keith Morgan, Morris Surrette, and Payden Surrette. Directing the band is Stanley Crow.
