Kim Chrestman Named Superintendent of the Water Valley School District

WATER VALLEY – The Board of Trustees of the Water Valley Consolidated School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kim Chrestman as Superintendent of Schools for the Water Valley School District.

Mr. Chrestman has broad experience in all aspects of school administration and a proven track record of improving Graduation and Completion Rates, according to board president Lamar Burgess.

“With his educational background and ideas for community building, we feel that the school system will continue to improve and be recognized as one of the top school systems within the state,” Burgess added.

Mr. Chrestman began his education career at Vardman High School as a teacher and coach.  After teaching and coaching for fifteen years at Vardaman, Pontotoc, Water Valley and Warren Central, he moved into educational administration with the Pontotoc County School District.  He was subsequently employed by the Okolona School District as Vocational Director and Technology Coordinator for seven years.  He then assumed the duties of Alternative Program and Dropout Prevention Director for the Chickasaw County School District.

Board member Cayce Washington describes Mr. Chrestman as an administrator who will bring vast amounts of experience to lead this district forward into the new “Common Core Curriculum”.

“He brings the experience necessary to lead our district to continue the educational development of our children,” said Washington.

Mr. Chrestman earned his undergraduate degree from Delta State University in 1978 and his Masters degree from Delta State University in 1981. He will assume his duties as Water Valley Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2011.
