Police Respond To Teen Fights

WATER VALLEY – City Police assisted by Yalobusha Sheriff’s Deputies had to deal with several incidents of youths fighting in and around the City Park last Friday night.

Just before 11 p.m. Police were dispatched to Central Street near the Shell Station for a group fighting. Moments later a call sent them to the park near the tennis courts for another fight. Later, yet another fight broke out within a group walking up Blackmur Drive.

Radio traffic indicated that the fights had mostly broken up before Police arrived. No injuries were reported among what was described as mostly school age youngsters.

Officers went into the Park just after 11 p.m. to begin moving out Carnival goers for the evening.

Law enforcement officers spent from Thursday night through Saturday patrolling areas around the park and performing traffic control duties.

Sgt. A. J. Hernandez reported the following additional law enforcement activity within the City Limits for the past week:

• Made two arrests for driving under suspension;

• Made two arrests for public drunk;

• Made an arrest for DUI, first offense and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle;

• Made an arrest for DUI, first offense and expired drivers license;

• Made an arrest for DUI, first offense;

• Took two reports of petty larceny;

• Took a report of petty larceny of gas;

• Took a report of simple domestic assault;

• Took a report of simple assault/physical menace;

• Took a report of stalking;

• Took a report of contempt of court;

• Took a report of burglary of a vehicle;

• Took a report of malicious mischief;

• Took a report of shoplifting;

• Took a report of an accident, glass broken by lawn mower;

• Issued 15 traffic tickets.
