$100,000 Prize For Record Crappie

WATER VALLEY – A top prize of $100,000 is being offered for a record breaking fish caught during the open crappie tournament to be held May 5 in conjunction with the World’s Largest Crappie Festival.

The tournament is being organized by the Magnolia Crappie Club and the Water Valley Main Street Association and participants will be fishing MCC rules. However, no club membership is required.

Payout is 100 percent to the top 15 teams and $100,000 to the next world’s record holder.

There is a $90 entry fee per boat. Registration is Friday, May 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 5, from 4:30 to 5:30 a.m.

Start fishing time is 6:30 a.m. and stop fishing time is 1:30 p.m. Weigh in tickets must be turned in to tournament officials at Water Valley Landing before 2 p.m. No late entries allowed, according to organizers.

You must have your fish ready to weigh and your boat, in line, ready to travel from the Water Valley Landing by 2 p.m. At that time the group will be escorted from Water Valley Landing to the downtown Water Valley Railroad Park.

Weigh in will begin at 3 p.m. on the on the Railroad Park pavilion as part of the 2nd Annual World’s Largest Crappie Festival. The top seven fish will be weighed.

World record winners must have fish certified by the IGFA, and must pass a polygraph examination.
