Oxford Man Found Dead On Bypass

WATER VALLEY – Police are investigating the death of Timothy Key, 30, of Oxford, who was found lying on the side of the roadway on the Hwy. 7 Bypass early Monday.
Police Chief Mike King said that about 2 a.m. officers responded to a report of a man lying partially in the road on Highway 7 north of Central Street near the first bridge.
Police found Key bleeding from a head wound and called for emergency medical responders.
“At this time it appears that he may have been struck by an automobile. But, it is not certain.” Chief King said.
Yalobusha Coroner Ronnie Stark said he responded around 2:20 a.m. Monday morning. Key was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stark transported Key to Jackson later Monday morning for an autopsy and reported blunt force trauma to the head was the cause of death.
“We are also awaiting a toxicology report,” Stark explained. This report could be available next week.
The case is still under investigation, Chief King added.
