Celebrate Coffeeville During Saturday’s Homecoming

COFFEEVILLE – The Coffeeville Chamber of Commerce has an entire day of activities set for Saturday for the annual homecoming, dubbed Celebrate Coffee-ville 2012 Day.
    The itinerary includes a car show, quilt show, arts and crafts, food booths, kids play area during the day.
    Musical entertainment starts after lunch with Haggard Collins. The  day will conclude on Front Street with a Street Dance from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring Jack Rowell and Triple Threat of Memphis.
    The anticipated morning gets underway with the General Coffee Car, Truck and Tractor show with vehicle registration starting at 8 a.m. Trophies will be awarded in each class and the Best of Show and Mayor’s Choice will also receive a cash prize. The entry fee is $20 for the first vehicle and $10 for each additional vehicle.
    The Front Street Quilt show will begin judging at 10 a.m. Ladies will want to have their quilts at the fire station between 8 and 9 a.m.
    The Coffee Recipe Contest will be held at 11 a.m. Participants need to have their recipe written or typed to give to the judges, along with their entry by 11 a.m. Judges will review and taste each entry to determine the winning recipes.
    Name tags will be available at the Chamber tent for class reunion attendees. Make sure you come sign in and get your tag. Handicap parking will be available for those needing special provisions.

Got A Favorite Quilt!

MSU Extension Service Nutrition and Food Safety Area Agent Pamela Redwine reports members of the Yalobusha County MHV will help with the Quilt Show at the upcoming Celebrate Coffeeville festival on Saturday, October 6.  
The show will be held inside the Fire Station on Front Street.  Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and judging will begin at 9 a.m.  The Quilt Show is open to the public from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Quilts should be picked up by their owners by 2 p.m.  For earlier registration feel free to drop your quilts off at the Yalobusha County Extension office located in the Multi-Purpose Building in Coffeeville anytime before 5 p.m. on Friday, October 5.

Rotary Promotes Fundraisers

  The Water Valley Rotary Club will be selling raffle tickets on October 6 for a $100 gift certificate for gasoline to be given away at the annual Celebrate Coffeeville.
  Tickets for the gasoline raffle will be $2 per ticket or 3 for $5. The drawing for the gasoline certificate will be held at 3 p.m. the day of the event. The winner will be issued a certificate that can be redeemed at C.W. White, 914 Central St., Water Valley, or by calling Tommy White at 473-2565. You do not have to be present to win.
  In addition, the club will continue the sale of tickets for a Carnival Cruise, which will be given away October 30, 2012. The cost of tickets for the cruise is $20 for a ticket, 3 for $50, or 7 for $100.
