Spelling Bee Held Monday

Laura Turner, a 6th grade student from Coffeeville, won the Yalobusha County Spelling Bee Monday at Davidson Elementary School. Laura waited nervously for a decision from judges Cheryl Harris (left) and Lecia Bain and then reacted with glee at her win for spelling typhoon correctly.

Representing Water Valley were (from left) Hayden Eubanks, Keelan Swearengen, and Caitlyn Horton.

Coffeeville students participating in the Yalobusha County Spelling Bee were Laura Turner (who won the competition), Na’taisha Taylor and Deanna Quarles. Laura will participate in the Mid-South Spelling Bee in Memphis.

Judges were Lecia Bain, Cheryl Harris and Karon Stanford (seated). Melinda Thompson served as pronouncer.
