Hatchery To Host Pond Workshop

ENID LAKE – The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center adjacent to Enid Lake will host a Pond Management Workshop on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m.
Pond owners and future pond owners have an excellent opportunity to learn more about managing their ponds at a workshop presented by Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) fisheries biologist, Keith Meals. Meals began working for MDWFP in 1986 as a fisheries biologist. Although he primarily works on the flood control reservoirs and several Delta oxbows, his duties also include checking private ponds by request in a 15 county area of northwestern Mississippi. This program will allow pond owners to receive advice on specific problems they are experiencing with their ponds. For future pond owners, this program provides helpful information on fish stocking, weed control, and more.
Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59 and $2 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60. For any questions regarding the workshop, call the VEC at (662) 563-8068.
The VEC is part of the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and is located at Exit 233 east off I-55.
