WATER VALLEY – Sixty-five seniors are expected to don the blue cap and gown and walk across the platform at Tad Smith Coliseum Thursday night.
Graduation activities will begin promptly at 7 p.m., according to WVHS Principal Dr. Glenn Kitchens. “We’re starting at 7 p.m. You can be a part of that or not.”
Although there won’t be a shortage of seats, the principal recommends coming early enough to find the seats you want. The Coliseum’s doors will open at 6 p.m.
“If you are not familiar with the Ole Miss campus, you want to give yourself time to navigate and find parking,” Dr. Kitchens added.
There will be three speakers from the class: Valedictorian Mason Ward, son of Bryan and Lori Ward; Salutatorian Amber Kilpatrick, daughter of Karen and Tim Kilpatrick; and Class Historian Avery Larson, daughter of Allison and Don Larson.
Once the ceremonies have concluded and the graduates have tossed their caps, parents and friends will be allowed on the floor to snap pictures and congratulate the grads.
Thursday is also the last day of school and on Friday the school will be open from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. so that report cards may be picked up in the cafeteria.
Parents must register students for the 2013-14 school year and pay all current fines in order to pick up report cards, according to school officials. Registration is from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
As a time saver, Dr. Kitchens recommends that you print out the registration forms from the district website at www.wvsd. k12.ms.us and fill them out before coming in. “Then all you will have to do is turn in the forms and get your proofs of residency copied and you’ll be through.”
Complete information about registration requirements is on the website.
