Schools Schedule Events
Davidson Elementary School administration and counseling office encourages parents to register students for the 2013-2014 school year. Registration packets are available in the school office. In order to complete registration, parents will need to complete the following:
Returning students (1st-6th grades): Emer-gency Card; Nurse Form, Asthma Form (if applicable), Allergy Form (if applicable/will need to be completed by a physician); Bus Application; Two (2) proofs of residency (proofs must be in the parent’s name); Lunch Form.
New Students (K-6th grade): Emergency Card; Birth Certificate; Social Security Card; Original Form 121 from the MS Dept. of Health (Shot Record) Kindergarten students and students transferring from another state must present an original Form 121; Two (2) proofs of residency (proofs must be in the parent’s name); Nurse Form, Asthma Form (if applicable), Allergy Form (if applicable/will need to be completed by a physician); Bus Application; Lunch Form.
Registration packets may be picked up from Davidson Elementary School on these dates: Wednesday, July 31-Monday, August 5, daily from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and on Tuesday, August 6, from 12:30-5:30 p.m.

Davidson Elementary School will have Open House/Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 6, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. There will be a brief general session at 3:30 p.m. in the gym to introduce the new principal, Dr. Carol Gary, and the School Attendance Officer, Earl Jones. New teachers will also be introduced at the general session, after which parents will go to their student’s homeroom. Parents are welcome to bring their student’s school supplies and visit their classroom. Teachers will also provide parents with pertinent information on classroom procedures, daily schedules, the DES Covenant, arrival/dismissal schedule, and other forms that will assist us in having appropriate information for a productive school year. Parents may also pay the $15 materials/supply fee during Open House/Meet the Teacher.
The first day for students is Wednesday, August 7. This will be a full day. “The DES administration, faculty, and staff are excited about our students’ return to Davidson Elementary where we will ‘Decide Everyday to Succeed’,” stated Dr. Gary
“Parents of Kindergarten students may walk their students to their classrooms (if necessary) from Wednesday, August 7 through Wednesday, August 14. Please stop by the front office before proceeding to the classroom with your child. We will be asking parents to leave picture identification at the front office. This is a new procedure for DES to help ensure the safety of our students,” concluded Dr. Gary.
Meet the Teacher will be held August 6, from 4:30-6:30. Parents and students may register for the school year if they did not register during specified registration days. Parents and students may visit their teachers for the coming year. Parents should use the student schedule to identify and locate teachers they would like to visit.
Principal Kitchens will be in the school cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. to offer a brief orientation session to 7th grade students and parents. This is not a required session. It is just a courtesy for those who would like to attend and hear a brief orientation about the transition from Davidson to Water Valley High School. All 7th grade students and parents are welcome to attend.
Students and parents who would like to attend and would also like to meet with teachers should go ahead and meet teachers prior to 6 p.m. and then be in the cafeteria at 6 for the meeting.
Teachers will not be in the meeting, as they will remain in their classrooms to meet with parents who do not attend the orientation session.
